  • AEIS English (Secondary) – Trial Class

    This is a test of one’s mastery of English language skills necessary for secondary instruction in Singapore public schools. It lasts for 2 hours 10 minutes and consists of a writing part and a comprehension part, summarized as follows:

     

    Writing:

     

    • S1: 1 of 2 topics, 200-300 words
    • S2: 1 of 4 topics, 250-350 words
    • S3: 1 of 4 topics, 300-400 words

     

    Comprehension and Language Use:

     

    • S1/S2/S3: Comprehension based on 2 passages (15), comprehension cloze based on 2 passages (15), vocabulary (10), and grammar (10)

  • AEIS Mathematics (Primary and Secondary) – Trial Class

    This is a test of one’s familiarity with Mathematics topics taught in the mainstream Singapore public schools. Applicants on the primary level are required to pass the score requirement on Cambridge English test (KET or PET) first.

     

    The test consists of two parts (30 minutes for Part 1, 1 hour and 45 minutes for Part 2), structured as follows for different levels:

     

    P2/P3:
    Multiple-choice questions (29) and short-answer questions (17)

     

    P4/P5:
    Multiple-choice questions (30), short-answer questions (8) and open-ended questions (6)

     

    S1/S2/S3:
    Multiple-choice questions (34), short-answer questions (20) and open-ended questions (10-15)

     

    No calculator is allowed for the test. For short-answer and open-ended questions, working steps are required.

  • Cambridge English B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET) – Trial Class

    This is an intermediate-level test to demonstrate that a learner’s mastery of English language skills is adequate for daily and instructional use. The test consists of four sections:

     

    Reading (45 minutes):
    Six parts of different types of texts (signs, newspapers, magazines, etc.) with multiple-choice, matching, gap-filling and cloze questions.

     

    Writing (45 minutes):
    Two parts, involving email writing (about 100 words) and article or story writing (about 100 words).

     

    Listening (30 minutes):
    Four parts of multiple-choice, matching, gap-filling and cloze questions based on recorded monologues, dialogues, and interviews.

     

    Speaking (about 15 minutes):
    Four parts, including an interview on factual/personal information, a pictorial description, a discussion/negotiation of alternatives, and a discussion of personal opinions/experiences.

     

    Passing the PET indicates proficiency at Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

     

    This test is a pre-requisite for the AEIS or S-AEIS test on the Primary 5 level (a score of 140 and above).

  • Cambridge English A2 Key for Schools (KET) – Trial Class

    This is an entry-level test to demonstrate a school-age learner’s ability to communicate in English in lower-level instructional environments. The test consists of three sections:

     

    Reading and Writing (1 hour):
    Seven parts of different types of texts and questions. The reading part is made up of multiple-choice, matching, and cloze questions. The writing part involves writing an email or note and a short story.

     

    Listening (30 minutes):
    Five parts of listening to recorded texts and answering multiple-choice, matching, and gap-filling questions.

     

    Speaking (about 10 minutes):
    An interview part where candidates respond to questions regarding factual or personal information and a discussion part where candidates discuss opinions with reasons.

     

    Passing the KET indicates proficiency at Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

     

    This test is a pre-requisite for the AEIS or S-AEIS test on the Primary 2-4 levels. The required score for admission to each grade is summarized as follows:

     

    • P2: 100 and above
    • P3: 120 and above
    • P4: 130 and above
